Land Trust Takes Legal Action To Ensure Protection of Skaneateles Shoreline

The Finger Lakes Land Trust today announced that it has filed suit in New York State Superior Court against the Town of Spafford and other parties to obtain exemption from taxes on its 20-acre Cora Kampf Dickinson Preserve. The organization took this step only after efforts to resolve the issue out of court were unsuccessful. The preserve, located on the eastern shore of Skaneateles Lake was donated to the Land Trust earlier this year. The Land Trust announced today that is has accepted the donation of a conservation easement on 22 acres of forest and farmland in South Bristol, Ontario County. The easement was donated by Chris Luley, the owner of Happy Goat Farm, which he operates on the property.
